"I can't tell you the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone."
-Ed Sheeran
When I first read this quote, I instantly knew how this quote can easily relate to my life, as well as everyone else's in the world. It talks about how when trying to make everyone like you, your problems will probably only get worse from that point on. Most likely, not everyone in your life is going to like or be friendly to you. Some people will just not be like you and have the same interests. Even though I know from personal experience how hard it is to go on knowing someone doesn't like you, we all have to learn how to move on from that one person and focus on the people who accept us. Now, Ed Sheeran, if you didn't know, is a British singer. His music is loved by many, but not very enjoyable for others. Ed's career is an example of how this quote can be useful to remember in life. Getting into the music business, Ed knew that he can't please all listeners. Sheeran's music is very soft and gentle, but at the same time very emotional and meaningful. Obviously, people who listen to rock music won't really be playing this music when they are driving to work, getting ready in the morning, or, really, ever. He had to learn with not everyone loving his music and dealing with the haters. Ed embraced himself being different from everyone else and didn't change anything about himself. This is how we all should be-ourselves and only ourselves, no matter what anyone else says. And, as Sheeran says, trying to be someone you are not will most likely lead to failure.
